President & CEO

Position Overview

The CEO is responsible for working with and implementing the vision of the Board of Directors and NIROC, managing day-to-day operations, hiring & managing staff and contractors, and representing the organization to the community. The position requires independent judgment, flexibility, and an entrepreneurial mindset. The CEO reports to the Board of Directors.

Other duties for this high-level position include:

  • Long-term visioning and strategic planning
  • Managing the fiscal assets of One Region and NIROC
  • Fundraising and corporate partnership development
  • Developing annual strategic goals (approved by the Board of Directors)
  • Building an organizational structure to achieve One Region’s strategic goals
  • Driving NIROC’s priorities by working with NIROC members to deliver an approved action agenda
    • Convening NIROC’s member banks and other partners to create an investment strategy
    • Working with partner organizations to create and implement an actionable strategy and structure for the completion of the multijurisdictional Marquette Trail greenway
    • Supporting strategic cities with walkable downtowns tied to transit by building relationships with real estate developers and municipal staff
  • Raising the profile and visibility of One Region and NIROC by serving as the spokesperson of the organization through public speaking events, social media, and other news outlets
  • Organizing and hosting NIROC meetings (every other month), other One Region/NIROC events, and the One Region Annual Luncheon (October)
  • Advocating for legislative policies that positively impact One Region and NIROC’s initiatives and priorities
  • Actively participating in regional events and collaborating with other local and regional organizations to support regional goals and initiatives

Qualifications

Qualifications for this position include: Bachelor’s degree required (master’s preferred); 8+ years of relevant professional experience; demonstrated visionary leadership; previous work with a board of directors; excellent communication skills, including the ability to speak eloquently and write persuasively; and the ability to work with a wide array of individuals in the three counties including CEOs of companies, local elected officials, civic, political, and other leaders. Previous personnel hiring & supervision experience strongly preferred.
