One Region 2021 Annual Luncheon
PROPEL NWI projects
Event Date: 2021
At the 2021 Annual Luncheon, we launched a coordinated alignment from Chicago to South Bend and One Region’s Propel initiative. Now is the time to propel Northwest Indiana by leveraging the investments in data and rail to build connectivity between us all.
PROPEL TRANSIT ORIENTED DEVELOPMENT
BACKGROUND
Because of state and federal investments, the South Shore Line connecting Northwestern Indiana to Chicago and South Bend will be expanding. To fully leverage this investment, it is imperative that Northwest Indiana is committed to building market-rate transit oriented development near the South Shore stations. The RDA developed Transit Development Districts and has housing goals based on the forecasted workforce demand. One Region will work to align municipalities and key partners to meet these housing goals to attract and retain talent in our region.
