2022 T.O.D Bus Trip
August 30 & 31
Northwest Indiana has the opportunity to transform the areas around the new and expanded South Shore Line stations with dense housing to attract a future workforce. This housing was discussed at the Destination 2024 Summit and highlighted as a catalyst for economic growth. This different housing stock is vital to the success of our region. Now you can explore TOD to see why younger generations are seeking this vibrant lifestyle and walkable communities by joining us on the TOD Bus Trip.
Municipal leaders and key stakeholders are invited to explore transit-oriented development (TOD) on the One Region Bus Trip to the Chicago Suburbs and Milwaukee, WI. We are offering one and two-day options to accommodate budgets and schedules. Attendees will depart the bus at various locations to explore walkable vibrancy as well as learn from experts about how they overcame obstacles and reimagined their municipalities with this high-density housing that supports the next generation of our workforce.
1-Day Trip Option
We will catch the bus from Purdue Northwest- Hammond and explore three Chicago Suburbs with market-rate mixed-use developments around rail. Enjoy breakfast with a speaker who will share his experiences in financing and managing expectations, then shop and enjoy another location with lunch (on-your-own) followed by shopping and exploration. Then we’ll wrap up the journey with another seasoned speaker before heading home. Cost: $30
2-Day Trip Option
This trip option continues on to Milwaukee, WI after visiting the Chicago Suburbs. We will have an additional stop in Oak Creek, WI before heading to the Brewhouse Inn & Suites in Milwaukee’s historic Brewery District where we will stay after enjoying dinner and a speaker. Day two will include visits to several sites around Greater Milwaukee with lunch (on-your-own) before heading to the Racine/Kenosha area. We will return to PNW in the evening. Cost: $285
